I’ve always kind of felt that I needed a minimum of 8 hours to capture someones wedding story so I haven’t really done elopements before. I think thats going to change after being part of this intimate Brisbane elopement ceremony and portrait shoot with Holly and Joel.
I’d captured their engagement shoot a couple of years prior and had discussed their wedding plans at the time. With Holly being from the States it was kind of tricky… then throw a baby in the mix and they put it on the back burner. Eventually to make things easy and stress free they decided to elope, so glad they did!
When Holly got in touch she just wanted to make sure I was available and we threw around some dates and ideas for locations, eventually settling on Upper Brookfield for it’s chilled country vibes. I did my usual location scout and found a heap of cool spots for pics and was pumped!
We had the ceremony in an overgrown field with a massive cherry blossom tree as the back drop. Their baby Stella watched on as her mum and dad got hitched and then we cruised the countryside chasing light, ending up high in the hills as the sun dipped behind the horizon.
It really was special to be a part of and just confirms my belief that weddings don’t need to be about all the fluff and details that you can get caught up in. At the end of the day it’s about the two of you (and baby Stella in this case 🙂 )and thats all that matters. No need to feel pressured by what you see on wedding blogs and Pinterest. Just roll how you want to roll. Thanks again Holly and Joel!
Oh these guys have got swagger too!!
